Moses Mendelssohn is regarded as a trailblazer of the Jewish Haskalah – the Enlightenment, and was already a renowned philosopher, extending his influence far beyond Germany during his time.

In the special exhibition at the Jewish Museum Berlin, his life in Berlin is illuminated. The exhibition portrays his era as a time of transformation, during which discussions revolved around human rights, freedom, and individual life paths. Within the exhibition, Mendelssohn is portrayed within a vast circle of friends, comprising both Jewish and Christian intellectuals, with whom he engaged in discussions about political and societal matters.

Through a multitude of original exhibits, supplemented by illustrations and audio stations, visitors can trace Mendelssohn’s various life stages. The exhibition was developed by Jelena Stefanović, OTW, and enhanced with illustrations by the Dutch artist Typex.
