The temporary exhibition “More than Recycling – The Circular Economy Exhibition” at the Vienna Technical Museum makes it clear that recycling is only one component of a comprehensive circular economy. Interactive stations and media installations open up new perspectives on key areas of life such as nutrition, housing, clothing, and technology. Spanning five exhibition levels, it invites visitors to critically examine their own consumer behavior and develop forward-looking visions.

Sustainability is evident not only in the content, but also in the resource-saving design of the exhibition itself. Reduce, refuse, rethink, recycle, reuse, and repair serve as a common thread that runs consistently through the entire exhibition concept.

Much of the furniture comes from the previous exhibition and has been visibly redesigned—with color-accented seams and joints that deliberately highlight the conversion process. This is complemented by the targeted use of recycled and recyclable materials, including clay plaster for exhibition furniture and fabrics for graphic elements. All reusable components are designed so that they can continue to be used after the exhibition has ended.

The clean, reduced graphic language—developed in collaboration with the Bleed agency—sets striking visual accents amid the recycled architecture.

A special highlight is the interactive “Utopia Path”: visitors can take a stand at various stations using an RFID wristband. At the end of the exhibition, the wristband is evaluated and each person receives an individual text and an AI-generated image as their personal vision of the future. Numerous interactive exhibits deepen the content and make even complex topics tangible.
