Project text:

Magdeburg’s Technical Museum, which is housed in the former Gruson industrial plant, currently exhibits mainly tools and machinery, plant equipment and products from industry, aviation, transport technology, the manual trades, the commercial world and agriculture. Originally set up by volunteers, during its 25 years since foundation, the museum has been able to compile an important collection of objects from Magdeburg’s industrial history.

The agency worked in close cooperation with the museum management and a consulting board of trustees to draw up a feasibility study for the future handling of the collection, the building and outdoor areas. To this end, not only was a concept for the meaningful expansion of the existing exhibition topics developed, the inclusion of brand-new formats outside of the mere communication of the medium contents is also planned. Future study offers and science-in-residence programmes as well as workshops and other spaces are to be added as a platform for public associations, scientific activities and business.

Tasks:

Feasibility study for the expansion and redesign of the museum to become a center for industrial culture
