East Frisian State Museum Emden

The new permanent exhibition, which was completely overhauled in terms of its content and design, profits a great deal from the building extension of Emden Landesmuseum. This provides space to develop a lively interplay between aspects of regional history, art and cultural history that turn modern history into a visual experience on various levels. In this respect, scenographic accentuations and media offerings were integrated in a targeted manner into the overall museum narrative, and the real-life experiences of the museum visitors were referenced. The spatial organisation of the new permanent exhibition was developed in close collaboration with the architects ahrens & grabenhorst from Hanover, who were commissioned with building the extension and refurbishing the existing building.
